Volunteering at the Innovations in Testing Conference

Situation

Earlier in her career, Christine sought out organizations and environments that supported personal and professional development. She wanted a volunteering opportunity that would provide the chance to learn, network, and interact with the leading experts in the assessment industry. While Christine sought personal gain, she also wanted to give back to individuals, organizations and the industry. She strongly desired to identify and affiliate with the most comprehensive conference and the best organization within the industry—an organization with the depth and breadth of expertise to appeal to all areas of assessment.

Solution

Christine learned about Association of Test Publishers (ATP) and the annual Innovations in Testing conference from a colleague, and quickly discovered that engaging with ATP as a member, and attending the annual conference, met her objectives. With more than 850 attendees in one location and at one time, Christine recognized the Innovations in Testing conference as ‘THE’ industry conference for testing and assessment professionals. For seven consecutive years, Christine has attended the conference as a volunteer, as well as a presenter and attendee.
