David Viotti, Founder and CEO, SMALLIFY

Dave Viotti accelerates innovation and leadership potential in people and organizations. He believes in a growth mindset and the power of betting small to go big. Dave is the Founder and CEO of SMALLIFY, an innovation capacity building firm based in Silicon Valley, California. He also serves on the faculty of the Executive Leadership Program at U.C. Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and as Innovation-Whisperer-in-Residence at Global Silicon Valley Labs. Dave has delivered SMALLIFY rapid innovation labs to thousands of leaders in corporate, government, and non-profit organizations, including the White House, Pfizer, Salesforce.com, Hewlett Packard, PBS, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, Stanford University, the City of San Francisco, and many others.

Dave is also active in social entrepreneurship and innovation through his work with the Westly Foundation where he co-created the Westly Prize for Young Innovators in California. He co-founded and leads the executive leadership program for Fuse Corps, a national social venture that pairs entrepreneurial leaders with governors and mayors to spark innovation in cities across America. Dave also designed the Civic Accelerator with the Points of Light Institute (where he mentors for-profit and non-profit social ventures) and the X-Sector Lab with the Presidio Institute (a joint venture with federal government to develop innovative solutions to complex social problems).

Dave is a featured speaker on rapid innovation on the national circuit, including the White House Forum on Cross Sector Leadership, Independent Sector, Stanford Social Innovation Review, the National Conference on Volunteering and Service, and the GradNation Summit.

Other career highlights include U.S. Chief Learning Officer and Corporate Counsel at Sun Microsystems, focusing on workforce development and technology. He also worked as a corporate attorney at Faegre & Benson, focusing on innovation and business. Dave also served as Henry Luce Scholar at the Legislative Council in Hong Kong.

Dave holds undergraduate and law degrees from Georgetown University, and a master’s degree in international relations from Oxford University, where he was an Allbritton Scholar.
